Animals, the outdoors, and sports have been a large part of my life. Growing up, we always had pets of some sort - dogs, guinea pigs, gerbils, cats, etc. Even the squirrels shared our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at lunchtime! I grew up with an ever-growing passion and love for horses and spent time learning to ride and care for them. Late in my teens, I discovered photography. Both horses and taking photos consumed me. Eventually my horse connections introduced me to the world of horse racing. Years of galloping and training put my photography time in the background. But when I hung up my helmet and boots, I picked up my camera in earnest.
I started back by taking photos of what I know best - horses and the racetrack, as well as my own dogs and cats. I love nothing more than interacting with any kind of animal - domestic or wild - and trying to catch their spirit in a photograph. At the present time, in addition to outdoor shoots, I am also taking studio photos of pets. These can be set up in your home.
Recently, a friend asked me to shoot her son's lacrosse game, and I plan to pursue this on a regular basis.
